Many thanks to all the runners and volunteers who came out for this year's event, and also to our great event sponsor, Aroma Thyme Bistro ! The weather turned out to picture perfect, and the spirit of everyone involved made for an especially great day in the village of Ellenville.

Below are links to results and photos from the race. I hope you enjoyed participating in the event just as much as I enjoyed bringing it to you. I would also like to give special shout out to the following runners, who in addition to running Satan's Tar, also successfully completed the 16+ mile Ellenville Mountain Running Festival on Saturday:

       Jana Bravo               Alan Davidson
       Nathan Briggs          Pat Mahady

       Claudia Cummings    Christopher Regan

Sign up for Satan's Tar, and you'll run what might be the toughest road race in the Hudson Valley! The course starts and finishes at Berme Road Park in the Village of Ellenville. Our event partner, Aroma Thyme Bistro is the premier restaurant in town, known throughout the Hudson Valley for not only its top-quality food, but also its great wine and beer selections.

The 9-mile run course is essentially a replication of the old Mt. Cathalia Hill Climb, an auto race that took place back in the 1970s and '80s. Except that unlike the automobiles in that race, after running up a hill with 1,936 feet of cumulative elevation gain, you'll need to turn around and run back down it, crushing your quads with every single footfall on the way back to Berme Road Park.

Cost

$35 May 1st thru June 30th

$42 July 1st thru July 29th
$50 on race day
